Tasmania University, TAFE and Tasmanian State Department – State Growth staff came to our office to meet international students to provide study and migration options to Tasmania!!

There were 4 different Seminars as below:

  1. Migration information about 190/489 Visa
  2. University Tasmania – Study options
  3. TAS TAFE – Study options
  4. Department of Tasmania (State Growth) – Specific info for Tasmanian State Sponsorship.

More than 100 international student came on the day to get up to dated information about study and migration to Tasmania.

Here is short summary for 190 visa requirements from TAS Government.

There are 3 different stream for Tasmania State Sponsorship:

  1. TAS Graduate Stream
  2. Working in Tasmania
  3. Oversea Applicant (Job offer) Stream

Requirements for TAS Graduate Stream:

  1. Must commit to living in Tasmania for two years after your visa has been granted
  2. Currently in Tasmania and lived in the state for at least 12 months 
  3. Completed and graduated from a CRICOS registered tertiary institution in Tasmania

You must be aware 3rd – study requirements as there will be significant changes in this requirement.

If you apply state sponsorship on or after 1st of Jan 2018, you must meet below new study requirements.

“Two year study requirement (190 visa only): Applicants will need to have completed two years of study at a CRICOS-registered Tasmanian tertiary institution instead of one year.”

There were great number of cases who moved to Tasmania on their 2 years or 1.5 years Graduation visa to study 1 year court to be eligible to apply Tasmanian State Sponsorship. However, it will be difficult from 1st of Jan 2018.

However, if you are currently studying other states but looking for 190/489 visa option on Tasmania, you can still apply credit exemption from your current study and course can be shorten by credit exemption out-come but you are able to apply 190 visa if you complete course in 1 or 1.5 years in Tasmania as a results of credit exemption. – Please contact us to check your eligibility!

Breaking NEWS for State nomination in Tasmania:

According to the staff from State Growth in Tasmanian Government, There were significant increasing number of invitation since 2012. There were only 56 invitation on 2012-2013 financial year but it reached 1000 on last financial year. So, Tasmanian State Government already requested to DIBP to get extra 500 invitations for 2017-2018 financial year.

After presentation, Staff from Uni TAS, TAS TAFE and Tasmanian department allocated time to have face to face session for our international students to provide detailed information.
