National Innovation Visa subclass 858 is previously known as the Global Talent Visa. It is a permanent visa designed to attract highly skilled professionals in target sectors to come and work in Australia.

What are the 858 visa requirements?
To be eligible for this visa, you must have:
- An internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the following areas:
- A profession
- A sport
- The arts
- Academia and Research
- Be still prominent: You need to prove that you have been still having recent exceptional achievements in your area.
- Be an asset to the Australian community: You must demonstrate that you can contribute to Australia in the economic, social, cultural areas, or can raise Australia’s academic, artistic or sport standing internationally.
- Have the ability to establish yourself in Australia: You must demonstrate that you can get a job in Australia and become established in Australia without any difficulties
- Have English skills: You need to achieve at least an IELTS 4.5 on all 4 skills (or equivalent).
- Age requirement: You should be in the age from 18 years old to 55 years old.

How to apply for a NIV 858?
Step 1: Create an account
You are required to create and account and apply online through the Government website https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login
Step 2: Fill out the form and attach documentation
You are required to fill out the form online and attach the following supporting documentation to support for your application:
- Identity Document: A copy of the identification page of your passport. You can also attach the national identity card if you have one.
- Record of achievement documents: You must provide evidence to prove that you are among the best in your area of expertise. The awards, prizes you provide should be widely recognised both internationally and nationally.

How to bring family members to Australia under a visa 858?
You can include members of your family in the application by either including them when you lodge your visa application or adding them after your application is lodged but before your visa outcome has been decided. For visa purposes, your family members are defined as (1) your spouse or your de facto partner, (2) your children or/and your partner’s children and (3) the dependent children of your children/your partner’s children.
Both family members who apply for the 858 visas and family members who do not accompany you to Australia must meet the health and character requirements. If your partner and/or dependent children are not included in the visa application, you are expected to provide the reasons why they do not apply for this visa with you.
