What are common criteria for a VETASSESS skill assessment?

The skill assessment requirement for each occupation may vary. However, below is the common criteria for 5 occupation groups.

Group A (Construction Project Manager, Biotechnologist, University Lecturer, etc)

  • Education Qualification: You must have a AQF Bachelor or Higher Degree with the highly relevant major fields of the occupation that you are nominating to.
  • Working Experience: You are required at least 1 year of work experience post qualification and this experience must be highly relevant to the nominated occupation. The minimum working hours required per week is 20 hours per week.

Group B (Marketing Specialist, Film and Video Editor, Liaison Officer, etc)

There are four pathways to fulfill the assessment criteria for this group.

  • Pathway 1: Bachelor or Higher Degree with highly relevant major field of study + 1 year work experience

If you have completed at least bachelor’s degree with a highly relevant field of study, then you need a minimum 1 year of work experience highly relevant to the nominated occupation to be eligible for a positive skill assessment.

  • Pathway 2: Bachelor/Higher Degree, not highly relevant major of study + AQF Diploma level with highly relevant major + 2 years of work experience

If your higher education degree is not highly relevant to the field of your nominated occupation, then you must have completed at least a AQF Diploma level with a highly relevant major.
