The eVisitor visa (Subclass 651) is designed for individuals wanting to visit Australia for tourism or business purposes. It allows multiple entries to Australia within a 12-month period, staying up to three months per visit. This visa can be applied for and granted electronically, linked to your passport. However, it only applies to specific country passports only

Who can apply for an Australian 651 visa? 

Eligible Passport: This visa is specifically available to citizens of the following countries

Health requirements: You may be required to undertake a health check before you can be granted this visa.   

Character requirements: You might be required to provide the police check for every country you spent for 12 months or more.  

No debt to Australian Government: If you or your family member have a debt to the Australian Government, you need to pay back or arranged to pay back that debt.  

Genuine Visitor:  You must have no intention to overstay your visa or seek permanent residency in Australia.

How to apply for a visa 651 Australia?  

Step 1: Prepare the required documentation   

The application process for this visa is swift and straightforward, requiring minimal documentation. You will primarily need your passport and character documents (you may be required to provide police certificate/s).  

Step 2: Apply online through ImmiAccount 

You must apply for this visa through ImmiAccount. Please bear in mind that you should submit all the required documents to avoid the delay in visa processing.  

Step 3: Wait for the visa outcome    

  • In most cases, you will be granted a visa immediately. However, in some cases, there will be a delay of up to 12 hours. If you fill out the incorrect information, or your information is hard to verify, then more time is needed to process your visa.   
  • The Department of Home Affairs also may require you to complete health examinations after you lodge your visa application.    
  • If your visa is approved, you will receive a visa grant notification with details of your visa grant number, the expiry dates and visa conditions.

You cannot include your family member to this visa. Each individual applicant needs to submit a separate application via the ImmiAccount.

Can I work or study on an eVisitor visa 651 Australia?

The eVisitor visa generally does not permit work or study in Australia. It’s primarily for short-term visits related to tourism, business, or personal visits.

Typically, the eVisitor visa must be applied for outside of Australia. You also must be outside Australia when receiving the visa outcome.

There’s generally no limitation on reapplying for an eVisitor visa after it expires, as long as you continue to meet the eligibility criteria. 

Can I apply for an eVisitor visa if I have a criminal record?

Having a criminal record may affect your eligibility for the eVisitor visa. If you have a criminal record, you are recommended to apply for a normal visit visa subclass 600.
