Introduction
Tasmania has received full 2025–26 allocation for state nomination on 07 Nov 2025. 1,200 places will be allocated for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) and 650 places will be for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491).
Tasmania will also commence weekly invitations and will publish all basic details of each round on its website, so that applicants can have a big picture of lowest scores invited, the number of applications on hand, and places available.
Which occupations can be invited?
1) General pathways (for most applicants)
Tasmania opens opportunities to all occupations listed on the Australian Government’s skilled occupation lists. In particular, if your occupation appears on the federal 190/491 lists, there will be at least one pathway (either 190 or 491 pathway) for you to migrate to Tasmania.
2) Priority Occupations for the 190 Tasmanian Skilled Employment (TSE) pathway
For onshore applicants, they can migrate to Tasmania using the 190-TSE pathway. To use this option, apart from meeting all general requirements, you must hold a positive skills assessment in a listed occupation and be working in a role in the same 3-digit ANZSCO group for the required period (normally 9 months for other roles or 6 months for teaching or health/allied health roles, given that you are still working in that area).
Below are example occupations from the official TSE Priority Roles:
- Managers & Professionals Group: Occupations under this group includes Sales & Marketing Manager (131112), Corporate Services/HR/Finance Managers (1321–1323), Construction Project Manager (133111), Engineering Manager (133211), Nursing Clinical Director (134212), School Principal (134311), ICT Project Manager (135112).

3) Health, allied health & teaching (Gold-priority sets)
Tasmania also sets “Gold-priority” for Health, Allied Health and Teaching occupations in multiple pathways (TSE, Graduate, Established Resident) because this state is facing serious shortage of labour in these occupations.
If you hold a relevant skills assessment and are working in Tasmania in the same 3-digit ANZSCO group, you will have a very high chance of being invited. Examples of high demand occupations include Registered/Enrolled Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Teachers.

What applicants should do now
Step 1: Check if your role appears on a relevant list:
- Start with the federal 190/491 occupation lists to check if your occupation is listed on the list
- If you wish to apply for a 190-TSE, check if your occupation is on the TSE Priority Roles page. If so, note all the requirements related to your occupation.
- If your occupation is in the health/allied/teaching area, check the Gold-priority list to see how it can improve your ranking.
Step 2: Optimise your score & evidence
Update English results, skills assessment, and employment docs. Ensure your Tasmanian employment aligns with the same 3-digit ANZSCO group as your skills assessment where required.
Step 3: Track the weekly numbers
Compare your case against the published lowest invited scores, posted weekly, to judge your competitiveness

FAQs
Do I need to be in a TSE Priority Role to get nominated?
Not for every pathway. Tasmania states all Home Affairs 190/491 occupations are eligible for at least one pathway; however, for the 190-TSE “Priority Roles” option, you must hold a skills assessment in an occupation on the TSE Priority Roles list and meet the related employment/time requirements.
