1. Extensions for Subclass 485, 489, 491 and 494 visa holders

Due to the Australian border closures which affects on the many temporary visa holders, the Australian Government has announced the visas extension policies for those visa holders who stuck offshore during that period, including subclass 485, 489, 491 and 494 visas.

Temporary Graduate Visas (Subclass 485)

Subclass 485 visa holders who lost time outside Australia due to the international travel restriction during the COVID-19 will be able to replace the time period. The visa will be available from mid 2022.

To be eligible,

  • The primary applicant must have been outside of Australia at any time between 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021
  • Hold or held 485 visa during that time
  • The visa was not cancelled and replaced by another substantive visa

Skilled Regional Provisional Visas

Subclass 489

The subclass 489 visa holders can have their visas extended for a period of three years from their original cessation date.

To be eligible,

  • The primary applicant must have been outside of Australia any length of  time between 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021
  • Hold or held 489 visa during that time
  • The visa was not cancelled and replaced by another substantive visa

Subclass 491 and 494

To be eligible,

  • The primary applicant must have been outside of Australia any length of  time between 1 February 2020 and 14 December 2021
  • Held 491 and 494 visa during that time and that is in effect on 18 February 2022
  • The visa was not cancelled and replaced by another substantive visa

2. South Australia opened Registrations of Interest to offshore applicants

Immigration South Australia has opened the Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for offshore applicants for occupations on the State Skilled Occupation List from 16 February 2022.

If the applicant meets the eligible criteria from Home Affairs, South Australia specific and occupational requirements, they will be able to submit Registration of Interest (ROI) to apply for SA state nomination.

3. Fully vaccinated Bridging Visa B holders will be able to travel to Australia from 21st Feb 2022

The Department of Home Affairs has announced the updated for the Bridging Visa B holders.

From 21 February 2022, all fully vaccinated Bridging B visa holders will be able to travel to Australia without travel exemption. However, any unvaccinated visa holders mush hold a valid travel exemption and need to be quarantine. More information

4. BPAY option suspended during 25th Feb to 5th Mar 2022 for online visa application
