Under the latest Australian immigration regulations, you will need at least 60 points to submit an Express of Interest Statement (EOI) and apply for a skilled migration visa (including subclasses 189, 190 and 489).

The Point Test is a tool to help Australian immigration select foreigners who can bring economic benefits to the country. The purpose of the point test is to make the selection process more transparent and objective. This system will also help to eliminate unworthy individuals and focus on recognizing other positive skills and contributions, including:

  • English level is higher
  • Skill level is higher
  • High academic attainment in Australia and abroad
  • The best working age

Points will not be counted towards a specific occupation, although all applicants for Residence Visa must register in one of the professions included in MLTSS and STSOL, along with all skills associated with that occupation.
